About Johnna
Johnna Walker is a seasoned trial attorney with more than a decade of experience litigating complex criminal cases at the state level. She has tried over 75 cases to verdict, including nationally televised and locally televised trials, and has handled matters ranging from homicide and officer-involved shootings to crimes against children, serious felonies, and DUI cases.
She began her legal career as a prosecutor in the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office in New Mexico, where she developed a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy and trial strategy. She later served as Deputy General Counsel for the New Mexico Department of Corrections, advising on legal compliance, litigation, and correctional operations.
Johnna went on to serve as a Senior Trial Attorney in the Thirteenth Judicial District Attorney’s Office, prosecuting some of the district’s most serious and sensitive cases, including homicides, crimes against children, and officer-involved shootings. She was subsequently appointed Deputy Director at the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office, where she led and prosecuted high-profile, complex cases across the State of New Mexico, often involving extensive investigations, multi-agency coordination, and significant public attention.
Throughout her career, Johnna has developed substantial experience working with, preparing, and examining expert witnesses, including experts in DNA analysis, latent fingerprint identification, crime scene reconstruction, firearm and toolmark examination, and computer forensics. Her ability to effectively challenge, explain, and contextualize technical evidence before judges and juries is a defining component of her trial practice.
In addition to her 10 years of experience as a licensed attorney, Johnna brings a unique depth of practical legal knowledge from her nine years as a paralegal in Nevada, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of criminal cases from investigation through verdict.
In 2025, after years of public service, Johnna transitioned to private practice, where she now provides criminal defense litigation statewide. Drawing on her background as a former prosecutor, senior trial attorney, and Deputy Director with the Attorney General’s Office, she offers clients strategic, informed, and relentless advocacy, grounded in firsthand knowledge of how cases are investigated, charged, and tried.
